London, July 27 (SANA)    European stocks closed flat on Monday, with gains from easing US-Iran tensions and falling oil prices offset by losses in technology stocks, led by ASML, according to Reuters.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 index closed flat at 644.52 points after hitting its highest level since July 7 earlier in the session. The technology sector fell 1.7 percent, reversing earlier gains, with ASML shares dropping 8.4 percent, ASM International falling 7.1 percent, and BE Semiconductor declining 9.7 percent.

Travel and leisure stocks were among the biggest gainers, rising about 2 percent, as improved prospects for airlines on lower oil prices lifted Lufthansa, IAG and Ryanair by more than 1 percent each. Energy stocks fell 2 percent, marking the worst performance among Stoxx 600 sectors.

AstraZeneca shares rose 1.7 percent after the pharmaceutical company beat second-quarter profit expectations and confirmed its 2026 outlook. Vodafone gained 4.9 percent after the telecoms company raised its guidance, reflecting its recent acquisition of a controlling stake in Kenya’s Safaricom, and said it expects results at the upper end of its revised forecast range.

Meanwhile, Zabka shares fell 9.6 percent after Japan’s Seven & I Holdings decided not to proceed with a potential investment in the Polish retailer.

The market stability follows a temporary de-escalation between the United States and Iran after President Trump decided to suspend military strikes, allowing room for diplomatic efforts.

The decision eased concerns over energy supply disruptions, contributing to a sharp decline in oil prices and boosting sentiment for travel and transport stocks.
