Istanbul, May 23 (SANA) A delegation from Syria’s Energy Ministry participated Friday in the Istanbul Natural Resources Summit, where officials presented the country’s vision for rebuilding the energy sector and attracting long-term investment.
The delegation included Deputy Energy Minister for Oil Affairs Ghiath Diab, Director-General of the General Establishment for Geology and Mineral Resources Siraj al-Hariri, and Mustafa Maarrati, director of public relations in the ministry’s oil sector.
According to the Energy Ministry, Diab delivered a presentation outlining Syria’s approach to rebuilding the energy sector following years of disruption.
Diab said resilience and the ability to withstand volatility had become central factors in guiding long-term investment decisions, adding that energy investment strategies were increasingly based on energy security and sustainability rather than short-term pricing considerations.
He said investment priorities in Syria were focused on projects with strategic value and guided by criteria including economic feasibility, energy security and national stability.
Diab added that rebuilding the energy sector was both an institutional and economic process, stressing that investor confidence depended on transparency, clarity and regulatory stability.
The ministry, he said, was working to develop a clearer regulatory environment and improve transparency in licensing, pricing and market organization.
Diab also noted that Syria’s geographic location provided opportunities for broader regional cooperation through energy infrastructure, interconnection projects and energy trade.
He said Syria was seeking serious, transparent and long-term partnerships in the energy field.
The ministry said Syria’s participation in the summit formed part of broader efforts to rebuild the energy sector, strengthen regional cooperation and attract investment in oil, mineral resources and energy infrastructure.
