Damascus, April 15 (SANA) Syria’s civil aviation head said a memorandum of understanding with Saudi Arabia marks a step toward closer cooperation in air transport between the two countries.

Omar Hosari, head of the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority, said in a statement posted on X on Wednesday that the agreement, recently approved by the Saudi Cabinet, is expected to enhance air connectivity, facilitate the exchange of expertise and improve aviation services in line with international standards.

He said Syrian authorities are ready to coordinate with their Saudi counterparts to implement the MoU and translate it into practical programmes to support the development of the civil aviation sector.

Hosari added that the agreement could expand opportunities for cooperation and boost transport and trade between the two countries.

The Saudi Cabinet approved the MoU during a session on Tuesday in Jeddah chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as part of broader efforts to expand air transport cooperation with partner countries.
