Istanbul, April 6 (SANA) A Syrian delegation headed by Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al-Shaar arrived in Istanbul on Monday to take part in the first meeting of the Syria–Türkiye Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO).
The delegation includes Central Bank Governor Abdulkader Husrieh, Director General of the Syrian Development Fund Safwat Raslan, and representatives from several public and private economic institutions.
Syrian officials are scheduled to hold meetings with Turkish counterparts and business representatives to discuss ways to strengthen trade ties, boost economic exchange and address obstacles to joint investments.
Syria and Türkiye signed a protocol in Ankara on August 5, 2025, establishing the joint committee as part of efforts to enhance bilateral economic cooperation.
According to Turkish officials, trade between the two countries reached $1.9 billion during the first seven months of 2025.
