Damascus, Jan. 8 (SANA) The Ministry of Energy announced Thursday the commencement of natural gas deliveries for electricity generation in Syria, under a gas purchase agreement with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, with a daily supply of up to 4 million cubic meters.
The Ministry stated via its official Telegram channel that this step will contribute to a noticeable improvement in the electricity supply, in line with the operational plans adopted for power plants.
It clarified that the agreement falls under a gas purchase contract with an annual cost of approximately $800 million, reflecting a government strategy aimed at securing stable and sustainable energy sources and enhancing services provided to citizens.
This measure comes within the context of a comprehensive reform plan for the energy sector, designed to boost production and achieve tangible improvements in the electricity situation.
