Riyadh, May 9 (SANA) Asian football eyes turn to Riyadh this Saturday evening for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup finals draw, featuring 24 teams including Syria’s “Qasioun Eagles,” hungry for a historic run.
Teams are seeded into four pots by FIFA rankings to form six groups:
Pot 1: Saudi Arabia (hosts), Japan, Iran, South Korea, Australia, Uzbekistan.
Pot 2: Syria, Oman, UAE, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar.
Pot 3: Palestine, Bahrain, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Tajikistan.
Pot 4: Kuwait, Lebanon, Yemen, North Korea, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Singapore.
Syria arrives in top form, having qualified with a perfect nine points from the third-round qualifiers, capping six straight wins, and eclipsing their prior best of the Round of 16 in 2023.
The”Qasioun Eagles”‘ target a deep run in the expanded tournament, set for January 7 to February 5, 2027.
