Damascus, SANA– Syria’s Ministry of Culture and a delegation from the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) discussed preparations for launching Damascus as the Capital of Islamic Culture in 2027.
Talks focused on cultural heritage preservation, including restoration of damaged archaeological sites, training national experts, and strengthening international cooperation. Both sides highlighted the importance of safeguarding Syria’s heritage as part of global human history.
The meeting follows ICESCO’s announcement of joint projects with Syria’s Ministry of Culture, with Damascus’ 2027 designation as a centerpiece initiative.
