Civil Defense advances repairs on Rastan bridge in Homs amid harsh weather

Homs,Jan. 13 (SANA) Syrian Emergency and Disaster Management Minister Raed al-Saleh said Civil Defense teams have reached an advanced stage in the rehabilitation of the Rastan bridge in Homs province, central Syria, despite technical challenges and harsh weather.

In a post on X on Tuesday, al-Saleh said: “This is non-traditional work that requires high engineering expertise and specialized equipment, and our teams have proven their ability to carry out this vital project with professionalism and responsibility.”

He added: “Our presence is not limited to responding to floods or fires alone; it extends to rehabilitating vital infrastructure that affects people’s daily lives, because serving our people means responding to emergencies and building the foundations of recovery together. The bridge will return to service soon with the highest safety standards.”

Civil Defense teams continue rehabilitation works on the Rastan bridge on the Homs–Hama international highway at an advanced pace despite weather challenges. Nine of 14 girders have been installed in the bridge’s structural frame, and the eastern lane has been completed.

Work is ongoing on several parallel tracks in the western lane, where crews have poured an additional girder, bringing the total number of poured girders to 10 in the project.
