Labor Minister meets ILO delegation

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Rima al-Qadiri stressed the importance of cooperation with international organizations and civil society in executing the visions and strategies for developing the work environment and social empowerment.

During her meeting on Monday with a team from the International Labor Organisation (ILO), al-Qadiri stressed that re-launching the organization’s activities in Syria is an indicator of Syria’s recovery, hoping that cooperation with the organization will complement the ministry’s work and yield great results in various fields.

She said the extraordinary circumstances in Syria have not impeded production and development, adding the government seeks to ensure a safe future in Syria despite the crisis.

For his part, Director of the Regional Programs at the ILO Lars Johansson said the delegation’s visit comes to follow up on a previous visit last March in which cooperation relations were discussed, indicating that cooperation with UNICEF will top the agenda, particularly in the issue of child labor.

Syria joined ILO in 1947.
