Daraa, SANA-The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) delivered humanitarian aid to more than 52,000 families in Daraa province during the first quarter of 2016.
Ahmad al-Masalima, head of the SARC Daraa branch, said on Wednesday to SANA’s reporter that during the last 3 months the branch distributed 52,800 food packages, around 52,200 flour bags, 9,500 health baskets, more than 7,000 blankets, and amounts of kids’ clothes.
He pointed out that the branch is doing work in the fields of relief, first aid, psychosocial support, water, and sanitation, adding that about 23,900 persons benefited from the health services offered by the branch, while the water and sanitation team, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), provided the necessary equipment to support the water sector in Daraa province.
In 2015, the branch distributed 275,655 food packages, 171,053 flour bags, 26,554 health baskets, and tens of thousands of blankets and similar items and other relief supplies, and the number of the families who benefited from the aid reached to 289,094 families.
