Russian Foreign Ministry: Accusations about targeting civilian infrastructure in Syria by Russian warplanes blatant lies

Moscow, SANA-Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova affirmed on Thursday that the Syrian government provides the suitable conditions for life in areas that are cleared of terrorists after the successful operations of the Syrian Arab Army, pointing out that the Washington-led coalition is launching airstrikes on civilian targets and residential areas.

In a press conference in Moscow, Zakhrova mocked statements of Turkish officials in which they accused Russia of using mass migration to exert pressure on Turkey and Europe, noting that the goal of these statements is to strain the situation and try to harm the reputation of Russia and its efforts to resolve the crisis in Syria.

Zakharova also said that the accusations against Russia by Turkey and officials of other countries about the Russia targeting civilians and infrastructure, including hospitals in Idleb, are just blatant lies and false, adding that there is no direct or indirect evidence that Russia has participated in the attacks on Syrian hospitals.

She called all the misinformation generated by Turkey about alleged Russian air strikes hitting the civilian population a lie, describing the recent statement of Turkish Prime Minister Davutoglu that “Russia secretly supports ISIS” as completely unacceptable due to it being issued by the president of the government that caused the displacement of nearly 200,000 residents of southwestern regions of his country in addition to the deaths of more than 500 civilians.

Zakharova expressed Moscow’s satisfaction over the exerted efforts to improve the humanitarian situation in Syria in implementation of Munich agreements.

Zakharova said that the special committee for ceasing hostilities in Syria will meet next Friday with the participation of Russian and American experts and experts from other countries.
