Damascus, SANA – Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad on Monday received the credentials of Massimo Diana, the representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Syria.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation and coordination relations between Syria and the UNFPA, stressing the need to develop them in light of the increasing challenges in the region due to the spread of terrorism.
Mikdad underlined the need for the UN and its organizations to give attention to victims of terrorism and to rally international efforts to combat terrorism.
For his part, Diana said he is glad to represent the UNFPA in Syria, voicing the Fund’s readiness to support the government’s efforts and saying that he will work towards boosting cooperation between the government and the UNFPA.
