1st Basalt Sculptures Forum in Sweida opens door wide for exchanging expertise

Sweida, SANA- The 1st Basalt Sculptures Forum, being organized by the Faculty of Fine Arts in Sweida province in the period between July 29th and August 27th, constitutes an opportunity for exchanging experiences between the participating sculptors.

The forum also allows the sculptors to deal with the hard basalt stone in making their artistic pieces according to the sculpturing standards of the mass, vacuum, balance and expressive energy.

Sculptor Fouad Na’im told SANA that the forum sheds light on the importance of the basalt stone which Sweida province is famous for and it shows the characteristics of this stone which contribute to enhancing the artistic work.

Na’im added that the forum opens the door wide for the students of the Sculpture Department at Sweida Faculty of Fine Arts to use the basalt stone which is distinguished by the holes inside it in a way that endows the sculptors with great art spaces and contribute to refining the expertise of the sculptors.

The forum is being held within the campaign of “Live Syria 2015” along with a number of artistic, folkloric, and carnival activities which include holding a permanent exhibition showcasing the graduation projects of the students of the Faculty of Fine Arts and a commencement for the fourth year students, in addition to a number of the musical and artistic parties.

A number of movies, cartoon films and documentaries on the artwork will be also screened, in addition to holding an exhibition displaying the artworks produced during the Sculpture Forum and quarter of the forum’s revenues will be allocated for supporting martyrs’ families and for the production grants provided to the wounded personnel of the army and the armed forces.
