Damascus, SANA, Journalist Thaer al-Ajlani, reporter of Sham FM Radio, was killed on Monday morning while covering the continued operations of the army and armed forces against Takfiri terrorist organizations in Jobar neighborhood on the eastern outskirts of Damascus City.
Sham FM said in a statement that al-Ajlani was killed while performing his national duty in covering the war launched by the army against terrorists in Jobar neighborhood.
The statement added that al-Ajlani was wounded by shrapnel of a mortar shell fired by terrorists in Jobar neighborhood, and he died of his wounds.
The statement concluded by extending condolences to al-Ajlani’s relatives and to his colleagues and friends.
In a similar statement, the National Media Council offered heart-felt condolences over the death of al-Ajlani, describing him as a “daring, diligent and patriotic journalist.”
Meanwhile, Union of Syrian Journalists, in a statement to SANA, expressed pride in the role of the Syrian national media which made it a target for terrorist organizations, expressing grief over the loss of al-Ajlani.
The national media in Syria has followed up the war launched by the Syrian Arab Army against Takfiri terrorism in all areas over the past years based on its keenness on conveying a true image about what is taking place on the ground and on exposing the crimes of terrorists and their supporters as a number of journalists have been killed and others have been injured and the media institutions have been targeted for many times.
