Syria takes part in WHA meeting in Geneva

Geneva, SANA Syria participates in the activities of the 68th session of the World Health Assembly (WHA) as of Monday at the UN Headquarters in Geneva.

Health Ministers and heads of delegations of 194 member states at the World Health Organization (WHO) will participate in the WHA session.

Health Minister Nizar Yazigi told SANA upon arrival to Geneva, that the participants in the conference will discuss public health issues on the global level, issues related to feeding mothers, infants and children and following up the outcomes of the WHA meeting in 2014.

Dr. Yazigi pointed out that the conference agenda includes an item on the health situation in the occupied Syrian Golan and in the occupied Palestinian territories, including the eastern Jerusalem, in addition to cooperation within the UN and other intergovernmental organizations.

The Sixty-eighth session of the World Health Assembly (WHA), the supreme decision-making body of WHO, takes place in Geneva 1826 May 2015.It is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States. Its main functions are to determine the policies of the Organization, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed programme budget. The Health Assembly is held annually in Geneva,
Switzerland.
