Damascus, SANA-Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halqi said the government won’t allow “crisis profiteers”, referring to traders cashing in on the crisis, to control the prices of goods and commodities in the market to make ill-gotten gains.
During a special meeting on Saturday, al-Halqi stressed the necessity that the recent stability of the Syrian pound translates into realistic prices of goods and commodities.
He stressed the importance of opening new markets which offer goods and commodities at affordable prices ahead of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting.
For his part, Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Majed Safiyya highlighted the measures undertaken to curb random price hikes on goods and the efforts to achieve price reduction and balance in the market.
