Tartous, SANA Two death cases, being caused by H1N1 (swine flu), were registered in the coastal Tartous province, out of 15 suspected infected cases, Director of Tartous Health Department Dr. Ahmad Ammar said Sunday.
Dr. Ammar told SANA that the H1N1 cases are with normal limits, dismissing as rumors’ the spread of the H1N1 to be a pandemic in the province.
He pointed out that public hospitals in the province have adopted all necessary measures on isolating the patients and offering them the
medicine.
last month, two deaths confirmed in Sweida to have been caused by H1N1 (swine flu) were registered in the southern province, in addition to six suspect-infected cases, four of which have completely
recovered.
“There are 15 suspect-infected cases in the province”,Dr. Ammar pointed out, stressing the necessity of paying more attention to means of protection particularly at gatherings and schools.
Swine influenza (H1N1) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza virus that regularly causes outbreaks of influenza in pigs. Early in the spring of 2009, H1N1 flu virus was first detected in Mexico.
In a relevant context, Dr. Ammar pointed out that the hepatitis A cases in the province are within normal limits and about 54 cases were registered, 52 of which have completely recovered, while two
cases are under treatment.
He said that the health department continued its efforts for adopting all necessary measures for the implementation of the health conditions that would preserve the public health and prevent the
infection of communicable diseases and implementation of health condition with regard to permanent surveillance of the residents of the make-shift centers and the schools in the province.
