Moscow, SANA- National Security Advisor at the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, Major General Ali Mamlouk and the Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev stressed the importance of strengthening relations between Syria and Russia and joint coordination in confronting terrorism.

The meeting took place in Moscow on Monday in the presence of Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and African Countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.

Patrushev said that Russian-Syrian relations have deep historical roots, and next July the two countries will celebrate the 80th anniversary of their establishment, stressing Russia’s readiness to continue providing support to Syria in various domains.

Patrushev pointed out the importance of the agreements signed between the two sides, adding that they still constitute guidelines for joint work.

Mamlouk, in turn, affirmed the importance of continuing joint coordination to strengthen these relations between the two friendly countries.

Mamlouk pointed out that the steadfastness of the Syrian people under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, and the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab Army and the support of the Russian Federation have thwarted all the plots that terrorist organizations sought to implement.

He reiterated Syria’s full support for the special military operation launched by Russia in Ukraine because what is happening today is a correction of history and a defense of the principles of justice and humanity.

Bogdanov, for his part, stressed the importance of strengthening joint bilateral cooperation in all fields.

Mamlouk arrived in Moscow to participate in 12th International Meeting of High Representatives on security issues, which takes place in Petersburg from the 23rd to the 25th of current month.
