Moscow, SANA-Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with heads of the diplomatic missions of Arab states and a representative of the Arab League accredited in Moscow to discuss developments in the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
“In his remarks, Sergey Lavrov confirmed Russia’s principled position in support of an immediate ceasefire, ensuring the security of civilians, respecting international humanitarian law, opening humanitarian corridors, and organizing evacuation procedures from Gaza Strip,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
Members of Arab diplomatic corps expressed gratitude for Russia’s efforts to bring about rapid de-escalation in the conflict zone and ensure humanitarian assistance to the population of Gaza.
They affirmed that it is unacceptable to politicize the work on this agenda at the UN Security Council as it is also unacceptable that several Western countries had taken a confrontational stance.
