Damascus, SANA- Prime Minister Hussein Arnous received Head of the joint Syrian-Iranian Economic Committee on behalf of the Iranian side Mehrdad Bazarpash -Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development- at the Cabinet headquarters and the accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, the two sides attached great importance to enhance bilateral cooperation in the areas of electric power, oil derivatives, gas, communications and tourism.
The Two Ministers also discussed the establishment of joint projects of economic viability as well as breaking new ground for bilateral ties in a way that serves the common interest of the two countries that are subject to illegitimate economic sanctions.
The senior diplomats asserted that Syria and Iran have tackled common challenges and adversities together and that it is essential to promote the deep-rooted strategic relations.
Arnous pointed out that the Syrian government is keen on boosting the bilateral relations at all levels, notably, the economic one in addition to further implementing all agreements between the two countries.
He also hailed the strategic relations binding Syria and Iran ,and thanked Iran for its firm support to Syria to confront the terrorist war waged on it and for providing humanitarian assistance during the catastrophe of the earthquake.
Minister Bazarpash, for his part, attached great importance to increasing the exchange of products and goods, and activating cooperation in areas of maritime and land transport and railways.
He also underscored strengthening the role of the business sector in the two countries along with cooperation in the fields of small-scale industries, exhibitions, free zones and banking and financial cooperation as well.
Bazarpash affirmed the Iranian government’s interest in expanding economic cooperation with the private and the public sector in Syria.
