Syrian-Tunisian workshop on developing the livestock sector

Tunis, SANA- Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform participated in a joint technical workshop between it and the Tunisian Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries in the capital, Tunis, in light of implementing the livestock development project plan.

Director of Animal Production at the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Osama Hammoud, stated that the workshop included presenting ideas and exchanging experiences in the field of livestock sector in terms of work strategies and implementation plans.

Hammoud noted that during the workshop, through an extensive program of field tours, the Tunisian experience was reviewed within the framework of animal health systems, feed provision, the joint professional complex for red meat and dairy, genetic improvement programs.

Hammoud pointed out that the workshop included visits to the National Agricultural Research Institute of Tunisia (INRAT), Regional Feed Training Center (RFTC), in addition to visiting some Tunisian breeders and learning about their experiences.

The workshop started on March 21and lasted until 29, at the headquarters of the Office of Livestock and Providing Pasture in Tunis, funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and coordinated by the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD).
