Lattakia Governor discuss with South African Ambassador bilateral investment cooperation, trade exchange

Lattakia, SANA- Governor of Lattakia, Eng. Amer Ismail Hilal, discussed Monday with the Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa in Damascus, Barry Philip Gilder, means to enhance and develop bilateral cooperation relations between both countries, mainly in economic, investment and trade exchange fields.

Governor Hilal pointed out to the importance of the strong historical relations binding the two friendly countries and the desire to enhance cooperation to include various economic aspects, especially in the reconstruction phase, stressing “Syria welcome the participation of South African companies, and is ready to provide them with all possible facilitations.”

For his part, Ambassador Gelder indicated that his country understands the nature of the situation that Syria is facing from the ongoing war against it and the economic challenges that accompany it as a result of unilateral coercive measures, stressing his country’s support for all efforts aimed at ending the war in the country.

 “We seek to change the false impression  some Western countries have tried to perpetuate about Syria as a war zone, by advancing areas of cooperation between the business sectors of the two countries, particularly in the field of trade exchange, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of the electricity sector, where expertise is available in south African companies”, Ambassador Gelder said.

 Gelder added that both countries have good political and cultural relations, which entail raising the level of economic relations for the benefit of the two countries.
