Syria wraps up swimming competitions at 2nd edition of the Paralympic Games for “Jarih al-Watan”

Damascus, SANA- The 2nd edition of the Paralympic Games for Jarih al-Watan (Wounded of the Homeland) concluded Thursday the swimming competitions of 100m freestyle swimming and 50m swimming breaststroke and backstroke for those subjected to amputations.

50m swimming competitions kicked off Tuesday at Tishreen Swimming Pool in Damascus.
The gold medal was awarded to competitors Ali Mousa and Mohammed Jafan from Wounded Athletes Team and to Omar Abdullah from Special Sports Team.

Molham al-Zabdi and Assaf Allawy, from the Homeland’s Wounded Team and Hussein Jasem from Iraq won the silver medal.

The bronze one was claimed by the wounded Mahmoud Berqawi and the two Iraqi athletes, Karrar Zeyadeh and Moustafa Tawfeeq.

More than 100 Syrian military and civilians wounded during the war years since 2011 participated in the 2nd edition of the Paralympic Games.
