Iran Calls on Greece Not to Heed Third Parties’ Ill Intentions

Tehran/Sana-Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said that the age-old relations between Tehran and Athens should not be affected by third parties.

“Our ancient ties with Greece and its great people have always been based on mutual respect,” Khatibzadeh wrote on his twitter page.

Iran captured the two Greek oil tankers in the Persian Gulf on Friday after Athens seized a ship carrying Iranian oil off its coast at the US order.

“Our ties must not be hampered by deeply shortsighted miscalculations, including highway robbery on the command of a 3rd party,” he added.

Iran had earlier said that the crew members of the Greek ships have not been taken into custody and are safe and all necessary services are being given to them.
