Hungarian President awards the Presidential Order of Merit to Syrian artist Bahjat Iskandar

Budapest, SANA- Hungarian President Janusz Adir has awarded the Presidential Order of Merit “Kossuth Prize 2022” to the world-renowned Syrian artist Bahjat Iskandar in appreciation of his artworks and that came within a part celebrating Hungary’s National Day.

It is noteworthy that the artist Bahjat Iskandar, who traveled abroad and headed for Hungary in 1967 to complete his higher studies, participated in many international exhibitions and received more than 100 prizes in photography and was awarded the Order of Merit with a Knight degree from the President of the Republic of Hungary in 2008.

In 2012, he was also awarded the Order of Merit with the rank of officer, and in 2019, he was awarded the highest order of ministerial merit given to a civilian in Bulgaria.
