Five Syrian teams participate in the ICPC World Finals Moscow

Moscow, SANA – Five Syrian teams from the universities of Damascus, al-Baath, Tishreen, the Higher Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology, and the Syrian Virtual University participate in finals of the International Collegiate Programming Contest, which began on Tuesday in the Russian city of Moscow.

178 teams from different countries participate in the ICPC Finals.

Director of the programming competition at the Syrian Virtual University, Salma Qabbani said that 119 teams are currently in the contest’s headquarters in Moscow, and the others teams are participating online, noting that the finals of the current competition is for the year 2020 and was scheduled to be organized last year, but it was postponed due to corona epidemic.

The competitions will last for five consecutive hours, including high-level software issues.

The International Collegiate Programming Contest is an algorithmic programming contest for college students. Teams of three, representing their university, work to solve the most real-world problems, fostering collaboration, creativity, innovation, and the ability to perform under pressure. Through training and competition, teams challenge each other to raise the bar on the possible. Quite simply, it is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world.
