Snow covers Damascus and most provinces, Sharp drop in temperature-Update1

Damascus, SANA- Snow and rains fell over most Syrian provinces as the country is being affected by a polar low pressure accompanied by a very cold air mass.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the thickness of snow till 07:00 am reached 15 cm in Damascus, 35 cm in Damascus Countryside, 25 cm in Quneitra, 5 cm in Lattakia and 2 cm in Sweida.

The Meteorology Department expected rains and snow to continue falling over most areas and the rains to be accompanied by thunder sometimes, warning against torrents in the valleys and slopes.

The temperature will noticeably drop to become lower than average by 7 degrees Celsius and the wind will be southwestern with a 70-km speed per hour while the height of waves will be from medium to high.

Tomorrow, the temperature will continue to drop to become lower than average by 6 to 9 degrees Celsius and the weather will be partially cloudy in general as local rain showers and snow are expected over most areas.

Different amounts of rainfalls were registered in the Syrian provinces over the past 24
hours, the heaviest of which were in Lattakia 155 mm, in Homs 127 mm, in Hama 90 mm and in
Tartous 69 mm.

Rainfalls in other provinces were as follows: 35 mm in Damascus Countryside, 25mm in Damascus, 38 mm in Quneitra, 31 mm in Idleb, 45 mm in Aleppo and 2 mm in Hasaka.
