US attacks on Syrian-Iraqi border serve Daesh remnants, Tehran affirms

Tehran, SANA- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh has stressed that the repeated US attacks on the Syrian-Iraqi border area target the main elements in the fight against terrorism and serve and strengthen the remnants of Daesh (ISIS) terrorist organization.

“Iran has always emphasized that the language of force and threat will not serve security and stability in the region. The United States must realize that it will not achieve its goals in the region with arrogance and bullying,” Khatibzadeh told reporters on Tuesday.

In another context, Khatibzadeh noted that the Vienna talks witnessed progress with the agreement of all parties, pointing out that the remaining important issues need to be decided by the other parties, especially America.

Khatibzadeh indicated that Iran’s negotiating team is striving to bring the negotiations to a conclusion that will lead to lifting the unjust blockade on the Iranian people, pointing out that Iran will not set a time limit, but its goal is to reach an agreement that achieves the interests of the people and the country, and from here it will continue the dialogue until the required agreement is reached.

He stressed that Iran’s position on the nuclear agreement and lifting the embargo is one of the principle stances, and therefore, these stances will not change by changing the government, and it will abide by the agreement if it is signed.

On the other hand, Khatibzadeh affirmed Iran’s rejection of the attempts of the Zionist entity to obtain membership at the African Union as an observer, calling on the member states of the Union to affirm their political will to commit to supporting the Palestinian cause and to adhere to the decisions of international organizations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation regarding opposing any measure granting membership or posts for the Zionist entity at international and regional organizations.
