Patriarch Yazigi calls for removing coercive measures imposed on Syria

The Vatican, SANA-Greek Orthodox Patriarch John X Yazigi, Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, called for removing the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people.

Yazigi, during a meeting with Pope Francis at the Apostolic Palace, called for the lifting of the US and European coercive measures imposed on Syria which affect the citizen’s livelihood.

He also appealed to states and governments to intensify efforts and know the whereabouts of the kidnapped bishops, Paul Yazigi, Metropolitan of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Aleppo and Yohanna Ibrahim, Metropolitan of Aleppo for the Syriac Orthodox, who were kidnapped by terrorist organizations in the countryside of Aleppo eight years ago.
