Dozens of long and short films produced in 2014 basically revolving on crisis

Damascus, SANA –Dozens of long and short films were produced during 2014 by General Organization for Cinema despite the current crisis, with the film “Mariam” winning many awards even though unreasonable sanctions are imposed on the Syrian films.

In the category of long films, “Waiting for Fall” for Director Jude Said tackled the current situation in Syria, putting the scene under the microscope for tracing the incidents.

“The Mother” is a film that has seen light recently by Bassel al-Khatib . It tells the story of a mother who dies but neither of her six sons could attend her funeral because of the war circumstances taking place in the country.

Mohammad Abdul-Aziz wrote and directed the touching film “Violet Gardens” following his film “Four according to Paradise Time”, as the Organization is scheduled to screen these two movies next February within a festival concentrating on its productions.

In its 50th anniversary, the General Organization for Cinema established numerous film festivals, on top of which, Youth Cinema Festival and Short Films Festival.

More than 70 short films were produced by the organization such as “High Tension” and “Smile… You are Dying”.

The Syrian Arab Army was the theme of the documentary produced by the Organization and directed by Nidal Doghaji under the title of “Home Keepers”. The bravery of the Syrian Arab Army and the battles it achieved are presented in the film.
