Beirut, SANA – Speaker of Iran’s Shura Council Ali Larijani stressed that there are efforts for solving the crisis in Syria politically, pointing out that some sides and states have ignored this solution and helped to form terrorist organizations.
Larijani visited Syria on Sunday, in a first-leg tour including Lebanon and Iraq, said in Damascus that his country will spare no effort to provide support to Syria come to finding a solution to its crisis, pointing out that there are close contacts with the Russians over theeir initiative to resolve the crisis are on.
“Since the beginning of the crisis in Syria we told everyone that the solution should be approached through political means, yet some countries interfered and that led to the emergence of terrorist groups in the region” Larijani added in a press conference in Berirut Monday evening following a series of meetings he held with Lebanese and Palestinian factions’ officials.
“If there is commitment to the new stances and visions, there are appropriate basis to find and develop dialogue inside Syria to restore stability to the region” Larijani said.
He clarified that Tehran seeks along with Moscow for finding a political solution to the crises in the region but the US adopts artificial stances for confronting terrorism and there is no credibility of what it announces.
“We work with Russia for solving crises of the region, and we do not trust the nature of work of some states including the US because their actual steps do not support the peace solution, but rather they fuel extremism,” the Iranian official said.
