Damascus, SANA-Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Faysal Mikdad, discussed on Tuesday with Foreign Minister of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, bilateral relations and the latest developments in the region and the world.
Mikdad, during a phone call with Lavrov, affirmed that Syria, as government and people, highly appreciates stances of the Russian federation regarding the situation in Syria and Russia’s support against unilateral, coercive measures imposed by western states and others on Syria in violation of international law.
He pointed out to the latest escalation of western statements and movements to target Syria, exploiting the so-called “the 10th anniversary of the war on Syria,” wondering their insistence to continue their policies that have proven failure in Syria.
Mikdad referred to the negative impacts left by western polices on the Syrian people and their counties as well.
Lavrov, for his part, renewed President Vladimir Putin’s wishes to President Bashar al-Assad and Mrs. Asma al-Assad for speedy recovery from coronavirus infection.
He briefed Minister Mikdad on the outcomes of his latest tour in the region and the discussions he held on different regional situation.
The two ministers discussed preparations regarding the convening of upcoming round of the committee of Discussing the constitution. Viewpoints were in agreement about the work of the committee to be led and owned by Syria without any foreign intervention or timetables imposed from outside.
