Syrian Science Olympiad team gains bronze medal at IT International Competition

Damascus, SANA- The Syrian Science Olympiad team has won a bronze medal at “Info (1) Cup” International Competition for Information Technology (IT), organized online by Romania, with the participation of students from 13 countries.

 In a statement to SANA, Distinction and Creativity Agency said that Hussein Ahmad Busabit, a student from the Syrian national team for Science Olympiad for Information Technology /IT/, Damascus province, al-Bassel High School for Outstanding Students, won the bronze medal in the competition.

The Agency noted that this is the first international participation for the Syrian Science Olympiad Team for the year 2021.

It added that the competition lasted for five hours from 09:00 am till 12:00 pm at two exam centers in the provinces of Damascus and Homs.

Syria was represented in the competition through the Science Olympiad team which included four participants, two of them had joined the national team on January 2021.

The competition aims to encourage the talented teenagers in the domain of IT and to assess their knowledge on the theoretical and practical levels with the aim of qualifying them to be able participate in the Global Science Olympiad (GSO) and to develop their skills in this specialization.

Syria’s last official participation in this competition was in the year 2019 as the Syrian Science Olympiad gained a silver medal and two bronzes.
