Syrian, Iraqi talks to enhance bilateral cooperation

Damascus, SANA-Speaker of People’s Assembly, Hammouda Sabbagh, affirmed on Tuesday that the will and determination of the Syrian and Iraqi people have always been greater than all fierce terrorist attacks to which the two countries were exposed.

Sabbagh, meeting Chargé de’ Affairs at the Iraqi Embassy in Damascus, Yassin Sharif Al-Hajimi, stressed the importance of the common brotherly ties between the two people, referring to the need for strengthening bilateral relations in various fields in the interests of the two countries.

He said both states have a joint will to go ahead in combating terrorism.

For his part, Al-Hajimi said that Iraq and Syria confront one enemy, represented by the terrorist organization of Daesh, which is supported by “dark sides which try to target the two countries and destroy the region, the cradle of human civilizations.”

He pointed out to the importance of continuing cooperation in the war against terrorism until it is totally eliminated.

Al-Hajimi stressed the need to develop economic and trade relations between the two countries and enhance cooperation through the work of joint Iraqi-Syrian committee.
