Prayers suspended in Jdeidet al-Fadel, Jdeidet al-Balad mosques over Covid-19 fears

Damascus, SANA_ Ministry of Religious Endowments (Awqaf) on Friday announced the suspension of prayers in all mosques of Jdeidet al-Fadel and Jdeidet Artooz al-Balad, Damascus countryside, until further notice, in line with the procedures taken by the Ministry of Health after detecting cases of coronavirus in the area.

“This step comes in line with the measures taken by the Ministry of Health after the detection of nine cases infected with Covid-19 in Jdeidet al-Fadel,” director of Damascus Countryside Awkaf Khader Shahrour said in a statement to SANA.

In this regard, the Ministry of Health detailed, through a statement, that “The new detected cases have been in contact with the 70-year-old elderly woman, who was admitted earlier to a hospital in Damascus and died by Covid-19.”

The statement said that the new infected people were isolated in Qatana hospital in southwest Damascus.

The Ministry called on citizens to comply with precautionary measures to protect their health and public health.
