Damascus, SANA-The Syrian National Committee for International Humanitarian Law endorsed its action plan for 2019 which will cover different aspects related to its work and showcase Syria’s legal and civilizational face.
This came during a meeting on Wednesday at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, who is head of the Committee, and attended by representatives of the ministries of Defense, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Justice and Higher Education, and head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Syria Marianne Gasser.
The Committee reviewed its 2018 activities which included a training course in international humanitarian law for diplomats at the Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Institute, three workshops for Defense Ministry officers, a training workshop for Interior Ministry officers, among others.
Dr. Mikdad highlighted the important work of the Committee in supporting the efforts of the Syrian government aimed at spreading knowledge about international humanitarian law in Syria, affirming the Syrian government’s full commitment to international law in the fight against terrorism.
