UN withdraws a number of its members working in Syrian Golan

The UN, SANA-The UN announced Monday it has withdrawn a number of the UNDOF members working in the Syrian Golan from several posts in the region.

AP quoted Farhan Haq, the deputy official speaker of UN as saying “In light of the deteriorating situation in the region, we have evacuated a number of sites,” adding he doesn’t believe that all sites have been evacuated.

The evacuation process comes after two weeks of abducting a number of UNDOF members by extremist gunmen there.

Last week, al-Qaeda-linked Jabhat al-Nusra released 45 soldiers of the UN forces.

A source at the Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Ministry described the abduction  process as “unforgivable crime.”
