Al-Jaish wins its 15th title as Syrian Premier League Champion for 2016/2017

Damascus, SANA – Al-Jaish won the Syrian Premier League Championship for 2016/2017 after drawing 0 – 0 with Jableh in the match held on Tuesday at al-Baath Stadium. Al-Jaish was crowned champion for the 15th time in its history.

Al-Jaish took the lead with 64 points while Jableh finished in the 13th place with 31 points only.

Tishreen came in the second place with 61 points, three behind the league leaders, following a 3-2 win over al-Taliye’a, which ranked 8th with 35 points, in a match held at al-Basel Stadium in Lattakia. Football players Kinan Deeb, Basel Mustafa and Mohammed Bash Biyok scored Tishreen’s three goals in the game.

Al-Wahda came in the 3rd place with 53 points and Hutteen came in the 5th place with 43 points.

Al-Jaish Sporting Club won the Syrian Premier League title 15 times in its history and it was crowned hero of the Republic’s Cup for 8 times. It earned the title of the 2004 Asian Cup.
