Al-Bassel Fair for Invention and Innovation to be launched in August

Damascus, SANA – The Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection has taken all necessary measures to guarantee a successful and distinguished start of al-Bassel Fair for Invention and Innovation, which will be held on August 20-24 at the Damascus Fairgrounds, in conjunction with the 59th session of Damascus International Fair.

In a statement to SANA, Yasser Saada, Director of al-Bassel Fair for Invention and Innovation, pointed out that the exhibition is allocated with an area of 2700 sq. m, adding that the transporting of inventions and participating works from provinces will be done by the Ministry of Interior Trade and Consumer Protection and its affiliated institutions, in addition to providing accommodation for free for the participants all over the period of exhibition.

Saada said that 116 participation applications have been submitted till mid-June from different provinces, adding that the Interior Trade and Consumer Protection Ministry is keen to ensure the widest participation of the younger generation in the exhibition.

He pointed out that the Ministry has allocated to the first winner a prize of SYP 1.5 million and 1.25 million for the second winner and 1 million for the third winner, in addition to various prizes of a total of SYP 2 million to be distributed to other winners, referring also to other prizes presented by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and International Federation of Inventors’ Association (IFIA).

Al-Bassel Fair for Invention and Innovation aims at attracting inventions of Syrians particularly in the areas of renewable energy, reconstruction, recycling, prosthesis manufacturing for people injured in war, and other inventions needed by the owners of commercial, economic and industrial businesses.
