Lattakia, SANA – A government delegation headed by Local Administration and Environment Minister Hussein Makhlouf on Tuesday inspected work on a number of projects approved during the visit of a government delegation to Lattakia province at the end of 2016.
The delegation, which includes Tourism Minister Bishr al-Yazigi and Finance Minister Maamoun Hamdan, inspected work in the handicrafts zone in al-Qerdaha, the expansion project for Fedio cattle ranch, and work on Sheikh Hassan dam in Ras al-Basit area.
The delegation also visited Kasab Tourism Complex and inspected the facilities that were restored and repaired after liberating the town from terrorists, in addition to inspecting the beach in Wadi Qandil.
In a statement after the visit, Makhlouf said that all the projects they visited along with others are proceeding according to schedule and should be finished by the end of the tear, lauding the efforts of Lattakia Governorate to prepare for the summer season.
In turn, al-Yazigi said that the improving state of the tourism sector reflects the improving security situation and the situation in Syria in general, as there is considerable turnout at beaches and tourist facilities, some of which reached 90% occupancy.
For his part, Hamdan said that funding for tourist facilities come not only from bank loans, but also from partnership contracts, adding that owners of tourist facilities that are having difficulties should submit requests to the banks from which they took loans so that the possibility of helping them can be studied.
