Aleppo, SANA – Water Resources Minister Nabil al-Hassan, accompanied by Health Minister Nizar Yazigi and Electricity Minister Mohammad Zuhair Kharboutli, on Saturday visited the pumping stations and the main water source in al-Khafseh water station in Aleppo countryside.
During the visit, al-Hassan said that all of the 16 water pumps in the station are technically functional and only two require maintenance, while the rest are ready to be turned on as soon as power relay systems are provided for them.
He explained that the pumps’ power arrays are damaged due to them not being maintained for five years due to terrorism, asserting that work is underway to bring the power system back online using either electricity or diesel fuel to operate the pumps as soon as possible and provide water to the people of Aleppo.
For his part, Kharboutli said they visited al-Khafseh power substation and inspected the controls, switches, and other equipment and all of them are in good condition, adding that this is thanks to the Syrian Arab Army who managed to preserve the station and its equipment.
He noted that the power line feeding the station was damaged and repairs have started on it in the morning.
In turn, Aleppo Governor Hassan Diab said that efforts will continue to provide all the station’s needs and carry out necessary repairs as soon as possible so that water can be provided to the people of Aleppo.
