Abdullahian discusses with de Mistura developments of Syrian-Syrian talks in Geneva

Tehran, SANA-Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian called on the UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura to prevent terrorists “with new faces” from joining the Syrian-Syrian talks in Geneva.

According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Abdullahian discussed during a phone call with de Mistura on Sunday the developments of the Syrian-Syrian talks in Geneva, stressing the necessity of adhering to the political solution in Syria.

He noted that terrorists will have no place in Syria, expressing his country’s support for Geneva talks.

Abdullahian added that only Syrian people must decide the fate of their country.

For his part, de Mistura said that Geneva talks will focus on starting the political process, ceasefire, humanitarian issues and combating terrorism.
