Damascus, SANA-The Higher Judicial Committee for elections announced on Tuesday the results of People’s Assembly elections for the third legislative term.
Chairman of the Committee, Judge Samer Zamreeq, recited in a press conference the names of the winning candidates to the people’s Assembly.
He added that the sub-Judicial committees in provinces have finished sorting out the votes and sent the results to the committee, adding that the participation rate in the election
was 33.17 % .
On Sunday at 11:00 pm, the voting process for the People’s Assembly’s elections for the 3rd legislative term finished at all polling stations in all provinces, after that the committees started sorting out the votes under the supervision of the Sub-Judicial Committees in provinces after the voting process was extended for four hours in all centers across provinces.
1656 candidates, among them 200 women, competed for the People’s Assembly’s membership that consists 250 seats, while the Higher Judicial Committee has decided to re-vote and re-sort out the voting in five polling stations.
