“Jasmine” film wins Golden Olive Award of the Jerusalem International Film Festival

Occupied Jerusalem, SANA- The documentary Film “Jasmine” directed byal-Muhnnad Kalkhoum, harvested the Golden al-Zaitoneh (Olive) Award as best documentary film within the official competition of the Jerusalem International Film Festival .

“Jasmine” film competed with 27 Arab films from Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Oman and Palestine within the activities of the second edition of International Jerusalem Film Festival which wrapped up activities on Sunday evening in Gaza Center for Culture and Arts under the motto “Liberation For Prisoners”.

The film gives hope to the souls despite the painful circumstances of the war, according to the Jury of the Festival.

“Jasmine” is a type of docudrama (documentary drama) which mixes documents with the story. It talks about children of Syria under the terrorist war on their homeland as most of them are living difficult and miserable conditions, whether inside homeland or abroad. The film reviews the effects of war on their dreams, ideas and their views for this ferocious war on their land, home and their school through conveying the suffering of children and physical and psychological disabilities that come into their minds as a result of the war.

The festival coincided with the International Day for Solidarity with the Palestinian People and aims at drawing attention of the international community for the importance of Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian State and exchanging experiences among filmmakers at the level of the Arab Nation.

Protagonists of the film are Children Heba al-Marae, Luna al-Akhras, Sarwat Kabtoul and Abdel-Rahman Mustafa.
