Homs, Aug. 24 (SANA) Qattina Lake in Homs countryside is seeing strong visitor turnout, particularly among families, drawn by its green spaces, lake waters, fresh air and recreational atmosphere.
Dahir al-Sabbagh, operator of Qattina Lake Park, told SANA that the park attracts large numbers of visitors, particularly on Fridays and Saturdays, from Homs and other provinces.
He said the area’s natural setting and fresh air make it one of Homs province’s distinctive tourist destinations, noting that visitor numbers have increased recently.
Several visitors said the natural scenery, services, cleanliness and designated areas for families and children were key reasons for choosing the area for weekend outings.
Moataz Oyoun al-Soud, from al-Waer neighborhood in Homs, praised the area’s natural beauty, lake waters, cleanliness, services and children’s play facilities.
Hamza al-Ali said the lake’s size, fresh air and scenery offer an atmosphere different from the city, highlighting its family-friendly environment, seating areas, services and cleanliness.
Zahi Mathalan described Qattina Lake parks as an important retreat for Homs residents, particularly families and children, saying the lake and surrounding scenery offer tranquillity and relaxation.
Abdul Rahman Ghazaleh, from Homs’ Bab al-Sebaa neighborhood, expressed his happiness at returning to Qattina Lake after nearly 17 years, highlighting its peaceful atmosphere and children’s play areas.
Strong weekend turnout at Qattina Lake helps promote domestic tourism and support related economic and service activities, supported by the area’s natural and recreational attractions.
Qattina Lake is located 12 kilometers southwest of Homs along the Orontes River. It is an important natural site and resource for irrigation and fisheries, as well as a tourist destination for residents of Homs and neighboring provinces.
