Aleppo, March. 24 (SANA) The village of Burj Haidar lies about 7 km northeast of Church of Saint Simeon Stylites in the southwestern Aleppo countryside. It is built amid a cluster of archaeological remains and is considered one of the significant historic villages in Jabal Samaan, administratively affiliated with Afrin.
The village was named “Burj Haidar” after one of its residents who lived there around two centuries ago. As for its ancient name, inscriptions indicate that it was recorded in the year 298 under the name “Kaprokera.”

The village contains numerous religious structures, including a Roman basilica dating back to the 4th to 6th centuries, in addition to a small monastery and two single-nave churches from the 6th century, all located outside the residential area.
The religious tower, standing about 11 meters tall, was later converted during the medieval period into a fortified defensive structure.
