Damascus, SANA- Defense Minister Maj. Gen. Murhaf Abu Qasra announced a complete ceasefire in Sweida provinvce following an agreement with the city’s notables and dignitaries.
He noted that the city’s neighborhoods will be under the control of Internal Security Forces once sweep operations are completed to maintain security and stability.
Defense Ministry quoted the minister as saying in a statement: “To all units operating in Sweida city, we announce a complete ceasefire after reaching an agreement with the city’s notables and dignitaries, responding only to targeting by outlaw groups”.
The minister went on saying “We have issued strict instructions to our forces there to ensure the safety of residents and protect public and private property”.
He added: ” Sweida neighborhoods will be under the control of Internal Security Forces as soon as combing operations are completed in order to control the chaos, secure return of residents to their houses. We ordered deployment of military forces to Sweida city to hold violators accountable.
