The UN allocates $ 625 thousand to support urgent response efforts for people affected

New York, SANA-The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Syria, Adam Abdelmoula, announced the allocation of $625,000 to support urgent response efforts for people affected by the forest fires in Lattakia countryside.

“Those funds will enable humanitarian partners – primarily the Syrian Arab Red Crescent – to provide urgent assistance to thousands of people affected by the fires,” Abdelmoual said in a statement Thursday.

Abdelmoula added that the forest fires have had bad repercussions for local communities and require “our immediate attention.”

“We stand in solidarity with the Syrian people in that emergency, and we will continue to do everything we can to support our partners in responding to those most in need of assistance,” the UN official said.

The United Nations said on Tuesday that its teams were participating in humanitarian response efforts, in cooperation with the Syrian authorities, to assess the impacts of the fires raging in Lattakia countryside.
