Damascus, Oct. 22 (SANA) Internal Security Forces carried out a security operation targeting a cell affiliated with the ISIS terrorist organization in the town of Rankous in western Damascus countryside, the forces said on Thursday.
In a statement posted on their Telegram channel, the Internal Security Forces said the operation was conducted in cooperation with the General Intelligence Service.
On Oct. 16, the General Intelligence Service, in cooperation with the Internal Security Forces, foiled a plot to target a police patrol in Damascus countryside in a preemptive security operation, according to an earlier statement.
The plot was being prepared by an ISIS-affiliated cell. The operation resulted in the arrest of two suspects, identified as (M.Kh.) and (A.H.), and the seizure of an explosive device prepared for detonation that was in their possession.
