support from Syrian, Turkish, Jordanian, and Lebanese aircraft, continued operations to extinguish wildfires in the province for the eighth day in a row.

The Minister of Emergencies and Disaster Management, Raed Al-Saleh, posted on the X platform that Thursday, July 10, represented a new turning point, due to the active winds that contributed to the expansion of the fire into a towering, deep valley in the Qastal Maaf area, which is considered one of the most rugged and difficult points to reach.

Al-Saleh pointed out that a special independent plan has been prepared for this area, which requires the use of heavy engineering machinery to cut fire lines and isolate burning blocks, noting that two serious incidents were recorded in the Burj Zahi and Al-Atira areas, where firefighting teams are still continuing to control the fires and are working to establish fire-cutting lines.

Al-Saleh thanked Iraq for sending ground firefighting teams to participate in supporting efforts to extinguish forest fires in the Lattakia countryside.
